Legatura aeriana directa Bristol – Romania

The launch of a direct air-route Bristol-Romania could not have come at a more auspicious time for the business, tourist and academic travelling communities across the South West of England and Romania.  The new Bristol-Bucharest route, is yet a further confirmation of the increasing interconnectedness between various British and Romanian areas of economic and cultural activity.

British and Romanian travellers for business or leisure in the South West of England and beyond will now be able to fly directly to Romania without stopping over at various European airports and/or having to check-in at London and Luton airports, thus saving considerably in terms of costs and time and with a much lower impact on the environment.

We wish Ryanair and the Bristol and Bucharest International Airports best of luck and success in this new venture.

Dr Razvan U Constantinescu

Honorary Consul of Romania in Bristol

Bristol – Romania air route

This project has been initiated by Dr Razvan Constantinescu during the 2013 autumn, following suggestions from the members of the Romanian and British business and resident communities from across the South West of England.

Currently, South West travellers wishing to reach Romania by air must either fly from Bristol with a stop-over in Amsterdam, Berlin or Paris or to fly direct to Romania from Heathrow, Birmingham or Luton. All these options attract of course additional time, money and have a negative impact on the environment.

Progress: the project was formally proposed to representatives of the Bristol International Airport during the meeting with HE the Romanian Ambassador in UK Dr Ion Jinga, a meeting organised and hosted by the Bristol Chamber of Commerce in January 2014.

Following the meeting and the subsequent correspondence between the Bristol Airport representatives and the Honorary Romanian Consulate in Bristol, a new meeting took place in February 2014 during which various possible destinations in Romania were considered, Timisoara and Cluj being the preferred options.

Resources: all the resources (time, expertise and finance) necessary to the launch of this project are to be covered by the Honorary Romanian Consulate and the Bristol International Airport.
